A location in S Aberdeenshire, Barras lies between the A92 and the A90 trunk road, 1¼ miles (2 km) northwest of Roadside of Catterline and 4 miles (6.5 km) south southwest of Stonehaven. The location is centred around the settlement of Midtown of Barras and comprises farms at Mill of Barras to the southeast; Mitton of Barras, Brakes of Barras, Chapel of Barras, Leys of Barras, Cotbank of Barras and Little Barras to the southwest; Muirtown of Barras to the north and East Mains of Barras to the east.
