Keith

East Lothian

A location and former parish in East Lothian, Keith lies a mile (1.5 km) north northwest of Humbie and 6 miles (10 km) southeast of Tranent. It takes its name from Keith Marischal, a fine manor built in 1589 for the Keith family who were Earls Marischal of Scotland. Opposite the house is the ruined Keith Parish Church, dating from the 13th century. Keith Marischal Steading (c.1800) has been converted into several private residences. There are farms at Keith Mains, Nether Keith and, 1¼ miles (2 km) to the south, at Upper Keith.
