A location and upland farm in South Lanarkshire, Shawtonhill lies at an altitude of 255m (836 feet) a half-mile (1 km) northwest of Chapelton and 3¾ miles (6 km) southeast of East Kilbride. There is a small burial ground here for the Society of Friends (Quakers) dating from 1675, but with the most recent burial being in 1932.
