A location in East Lothian, Carberry lies immediately to the east of Whitecraig and 1¼ miles (2 km) south of Inveresk. A substantial Roman tombstone dating from 140-180 AD was found in a field here in 2007. The 16th-century Carberry Tower lies a half-mile (0.8 km) to the southeast, with Carberry Hill beyond, which was the site of a notable conflagration between Mary, Queen of Scots (1542-87), and her Protestant nobles.
