Stonefield


South Lanarkshire

An eastern district of Blantyre, which was once a separate hamlet, Stonefield overlooks the River Clyde 1½ miles (2.5 km) northwest of Hamilton. Stonefield was associated with coal mining from the late 19th Century, with the 1891 census recording 1792 miners in the area.
