Post Office and Village Store, Symington

A village in Clydesdale, Symington lies in the shadow of Tinto Hill on the northern bank of the upper reaches of the River Clyde, 3 miles (5 km) southwest of Biggar. It developed from the 1860s at a railway junction, the branch to Peebles eventually closing in 1950. Symington Railway Station fell foul of the Beeching cuts and closed in 1965, but the West Coast Main Line still passes to the west of the village. The Culter Hills lie to the south and southeast.
