A settlement on the Cowal Peninsula of SE Argyll and Bute, Sandhaven is located at the head of the Holy Loch, 1½ miles (2.5 km) northwest of Sandbank and 3 miles (5 km) north northwest of Dunoon. Sandhaven was built to house American military personnel and their families, associated with the US Navy presence in the area, and comprises housing of a consistent style, built in the 1970s. The houses have subsequently passed into private ownership but there are no facilities in the settlement.
