Lordscairnie

Fife

A location in N Fife, Lordscairnie lies a quarter-mile (0.5 km) northeast of Moonzie and 2½ miles (4 km) northwest of Cupar. A loch here was drained in the early years of the 19th century to create agricultural land and marl was extracted from the loch bed. The ruins of the 15th-century Lordscairnie Castle stand on what was once an island in that loch. A small loch remains within Lordscairnie Myre, while Lordscairnie Farm and associated cottages lie to the east.
