A locality on the east coast of the island of Hoy in Orkney, Rysa is located on Rysa Bay a mile (1.5 km) north of Lyness. The A-listed Rysa Lodge was created by remodelling a former croft house in 1902. On the opposite side of the B9047 road are the remains of the Rysa Lodge Anti-Aircraft Battery. This was the first such facility to be built to defend Scapa Flow and comprises an arc of four circular concrete gun emplacements, now used as lambing pens. There is also a farm to the north at Muckle Rysa. The unfortunate Betty Corrigall lived in a cottage at Rysa, which is no longer extant. Her grave can be seen at the roadside 2½ miles (4 km) to the northwest.
