Glespin

South Lanarkshire

A former collier hamlet of South Lanarkshire, Glespin lies on the Douglas Water 2½ miles (4 km) southwest of Douglas. Hagshaw Hill Wind Farm is located 2 miles (3 km) to the northwest and the Glespin Burn joins the Douglas Water a mile (1.5 km) to the east. The deep coal mines are gone but extensive open-cast workings operated to the southwest into the 21st century.
