South Lanarkshire

A village, in a parish of the same name, Kirkfieldbank lies in the Clyde Valley opposite the junction of the Mouse Water with the River Clyde, a mile (1.5 km) west of Lanark. The waterfalls of Stonebyres Linn lie just downstream and the heritage village of New Lanark lies a mile (1.5 km) upstream. A mural in the Riverside Bar by Alasdair Gray (b.1934) was restored by the artist in 2009.
