Located at Balerno, 6 miles (10 km) southwest Edinburgh, Malleny House and gardens are owned by the National Trust for Scotland. The 1.2 ha (3 acre) walled garden, which is open to the public, is dominated by four 400 year old yew trees (there were originally twelve, known as 'the apostles'. The garden also includes a large collection of old-fashioned roses and fine herbaceous borders. The National Bonsai Collection for Scotland is also to be found at Malleny.
