East Cairn Hill East Cairn Hill is one of the Pentland Hills of West Lothian, but with the boundary with the City of Edinburgh crossing its eastern flank and with the Scottish Borders cutting its southern flank. The hill rises to 561m (1040 feet) 7 miles (11 km) southeast of Livingston. The pass of Cauldstane Slap separates this hill from West Cairn Hill (562m / 1043 feet).
