Loch, Glen

A steep and narrow valley in Highland Perth & Kinross, Glen Loch is an arm of Glen Tilt, situated 6 miles (10 km) north northwest of Straloch and 10 miles (16 km) north northeast of Pitlochry. Extending to 4 miles (6.5 km) in length, the valley contains Loch Loch, which is the source of An Lochain. An RAF Hercules aircraft crashed in Glen Loch on 27th May 1993 killing nine crew members. The aircraft was on a training flight simulating the drop of cargo in Glen Tilt, but stalled while trying to regain its operational height and flight-path.
