A ruined castle lying just to the northeast of Pitlochry and a quarter-mile (0.5 km) southeast of Moulin in Perth and Kinross, the Black Castle of Moulin (Gael: Caisteal Dubh Maohlinn) was built in 1326 on the site of an older stronghold for John Campbell of Moulin, Earl of Atholl (c.1313 - 1333). Only the lower courses of one of its corner towers and part of an enclosing wall remain today. Around 1500, the castle was said to have been burned due to the presence of plague and abandoned. The loch which once surrounded the castle, giving it a strong defence, was drained in the 18th Century.

The castle was subject to a conservation programme, completed in 2004 and managed by Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust.
