Polmont Railway Station


(Poll-Mhonadh)

Polmont Railway Station (Gael: Poll-Mhonadh) is located between Polmont and Brightons in Falkirk Council Area, just to the north of the Union Canal. It lies on the Edinburgh to Glasgow Line, just before it splits at Polmont Junction, where a branch provides a service to Dunblane via Falkirk Grahamston. This station was opened in 1842 by the Edinburgh & Glasgow Railway Company. It is preceded by Linlithgow Railway Station, 4½ miles (7 km) to the east, and followed by Falkirk High, 3 miles (5 km) to the west. Operated by ScotRail, Polmont Railway Station is staffed part-time and is used by 651,690 passengers per annum (2009-10).
