Camps Reservoir

A substantial reservoir with an earth embankment dam in South Lanarkshire, Camps began operating in 1930 and is located 3 miles (5 km) east of the settlement of Crawford (South Lanarkshire) and 11 miles (18 km) north northwest of Moffat (Dumfries and Galloway). It is the source of the Camps Water, a tributary of the River Clyde. Now operated by Scottish Water for the supply of drinking-water, it covers an area of 78.8 ha (194 acres). It also provides a recreational fishery and the Clyde Wind Farm is spread over the hills surrounding the reservoir.
