Col. Gardiner's Monument (1853)

Accessible via a pathway running eastwards from the south platform of Prestonpans Railway Station, Col. Gardiner's Monument remembers a government commander and devout religious convert who fell at the Battle of Prestonpans (1745).

The monument was erected in 1853 by subscription of his admirers in Edinburgh. It lies in front of Bankton House, which was once Gardiner's home.
