Meg Ritchie Stone

1952 -

Athlete. Born in Kirkcaldy, Ritchie made more than thirty appearances for Great Britain in shot-put and discus. She was a competitor in the Moscow (1980) and Los Angeles (1984) Olympic Games, coming fifth in the latter competition. She took part in the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton (Canada) and won the gold medal for discus in Brisbane (Australia) in 1982, throwing a distance of 62.98m.

She subsequently became a fitness coach for the University of Arizona American football team and was appointed a national athletics coach on her return to Scotland.
