Cockpen & Carrington Parish Church between Bonnyrigg & Gorebridge

Situated in the east Central Lowlands between Edinburgh and the Scottish Borders, Midlothian lies to the east of the Pentland Hills and north of the Moorfoot Hills. Once heavily dependent on coal mining, the region is now a centre of light industry and residential development within commuting distance of Edinburgh. Its main settlements are Dalkeith, Bonnyrigg, Loanhead, Lasswade, Penicuik and Newtongrange.
