Parish of Mearns Mearns is a parish, which lies in East Renfrewshire Council Area, some 6 miles (10 km) south of Paisley in Renfrewshire and 7 miles (12 km) west of East Kilbride in South Lanarkshire.It is located in the old county of Renfrewshire, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.The parish has an area of 42.9 sq. km (16.5 sq. miles) and includes the settlement of Newton Mearns.
