Port Wemyss

(Bun Othan)
Argyll and Bute

A small village of the island of Islay in the Inner Hebrides, Port Wemyss (Gael: Bun Othan) lies at the southern end of the Rhinns of Islay immediately to the south of Portnahaven and 2 miles (3 km) to the south of the Rubha na Faing headland. Despite its lack of harbour facilities, it developed as a fishing village in the 19th century occupied by crofters cleared from the land.
