A village in Angus, Craigo lies on the River North Esk, 5 miles (8 km) northwest of Montrose. It prospered until the 1870s as a textile village with a bleachfield and flax-spinning mill. The main-line railway passes through the village, but there is no longer a station. Craigo Primary School closed in 2000.
The older hamlet of North Craigo lies to the south of this industrial village, the explanation of this being that Craigo House and estate lie yet further to the south.
