Ferry Hills

A small peninsula at the southern extremity of Fife, Ferry Hills lies a mile (1.5 km) south of Inverkeithing, facing Inchgarvie island. It provides the land-fall for both the railway and road bridges across the Firth of Forth, from which it rises steeply. The town of North Queensferry lies at its head. Much of Ferry Hills has been denuded by a series of whinstone quarries, the largest of which, Cruicks Quarry, was operational until 2009.
