An embayment on the north shore of the Dornoch Firth, Poll na Caorach is located 4 miles (6 km) west of Dornoch. It receives the River Evelix from the east (via the artificial Loch Evelix) and the Allt Garbh from the north, through another artificial loch, Loch Ospisdale.
