A district of N Glasgow, Kelvindale lies on the right bank of the River Kelvin between Anniesland and Maryhill, 3 miles (5 km) northwest of the city centre. The area is served by primary and secondary schools, and is the location of the private Glasgow Nuffield Hospital, founded in 1973. A new railway station opened at Kelvindale in 2005, taking commuters on a revitalised section of line into Queen Street Station.
