River Kintour

(Kintour River)

A small river in the SE of Islay, Argyll and Bute, the River Kintour (or Kintour River) rises as headstreams which meet Abhainn Staoin, a half-mile (1 km) northeast of Loch nan Clach. It flows northeast, then east and southeast collecting several streams along the way, before falling into Aros Bay having completed a course of 3½ miles (5.5 km). The river supports a healthy population of salmon and brown trout.
