A remote and shallow lochan located within the Carrick Forest of SE South Ayrshire, Loch Slochy lies on the border with East Ayrshire a half-mile (0.8 km) southwest of Loch Riecawr and a mile (1.5 km) northwest of Lock Macaterick, 8 miles (13 km) west of Carsphairn. In some seasons, the loch is reduced to little more than a bog.
