Afton Water

Celebrated in a famous song by Robert Burns, the Afton rises on the northern slopes of Alhang in SE East Ayrshire, close to the border with Dumfries and Galloway. It flows north through the Afton Reservoir, eventually emptying into the River Nith near New Cumnock, having completed a course of 9 miles (14 km).
