Brownsbank Cottage was the home of the great Scottish writer, Hugh MacDiarmid (1892 - 1978). Located near the town of Biggar, South Lanarkshire, it overlooks the Peeblesshire Hills to the south and was acquired by the Biggar Museum Trust in 1992. Containing original interiors with portraits and photographs, the cottage is now home to a writer-in-residence.
