Orrin Reservoir

Lying between the forests of Cabaan and Corriehallie, the Orrin Reservoir lies in the heart of Glen Orrin and has a length of 5 miles (8 km). Opening in 1961, this formed the third phase of the Conon Hydro-Electric Scheme. There are two separate dams, built by Duncan Logan and Sons Ltd. of Muir of Ord, which located are at the eastern end of the reservoir and separated by a small hill. Although records were broken for the speed and volume of concrete poured on the dam, work was never undertaken on the Sabbath by a company run by a pillar of the Free Church, Willie Logan (1913-66).
