Multrees Walk

(The Walk)

An exclusive shopping centre in Central Edinburgh, Multrees Walk (also known simply as The Walk) connects St. Andrew Square with the St. James' Centre and is said to represent the first new street created in the heart of the New Town since the 18th century. It opened in 2002 with the aspirational Harvey Nichols as its anchor store, their first in Scotland. This store spreads over five floors and 9000 sq. m (96,875 sq. feet). Multrees Walk has also attracted a series of luxury and designer brands into its 27 units, which represent 7432 sq. m (80,000 sq. feet) of retail space. It also includes a rebuilt Edinburgh Bus Station beneath and 3700 sq. m (39,826 sq. feet) of office space. The development cost £32 million and was the work of Edinburgh-based CDA architects. It claims to attract six million visitors per annum.
