Brierylaw and Shawfield Cemeteries

A pair of substantial burial grounds in Selkirk in the Scottish Borders, Brierylaw and Shawfield Cemeteries are located on a sloping site a half-mile (1 km) northeast of the town centre. Brierylaw was developed first, in the 1870s, while Shawfield provides additional space to the east of the Shaw Burn. Progressively extended into fields which were once part of Shaws Farm, Shawfield contains a number of designated war graves, maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, and also provides a woodland burial site. The cemeteries are owned and maintained by Scottish Borders Council.
