Black Needle

A stream which rises on the northeastern slopes of Carlin Tooth in the extreme south of the Scottish Borders, Black Needle flows east for a mile (1.4 km) where it meets the English Border and then south along this Border, to receive the Green Needle. It then turns southeast into England. Black Needle is the highest tributary of the River Tyne, one of England's most significant rivers.
