A kite-shaped Celtic cross slab situated on the northern shore of Loch Kinord, the Kinord Cross is located 1¼ miles (2 km) northwest of Dinnet in Aberdeenshire. The slab is 1.9m (6 feet 3 inches) in height, 0.94m (3 feet 1 inch) wide and 0.3m (1 foot) in thickness, and features a finely carved interlace-filled cross on its south-facing side, which is in an excellent state of preservation. The absence of symbols suggest this is a purely Christian monument, dating from the end of Pictish times. Around 1820 it was discovered, then lying flat, and removed to Aboyne Castle for protection but was restored to approximately its original position in 1959. Lying within the Muir of Dinnet National Nature Reserve, a way-marked trail now brings visitors to the monument.
