Ardrossan Harbour Railway Station

(Caladh Àird Rosain)

Ardrossan Harbour Railway Station (Gael: Caladh Àird Rosain) lies on a branch of the Ayrshire Coast Line, a quarter-mile (0.5 km) west of the town centre. This station opened in 1987, replacing the nearby Ardrossan Pier Station which opened in 1840. It is preceded by Ardrossan Town Station. Operated by ScotRail, Ardrossan Harbour Railway Station is unstaffed. It provides access to the Arran ferry terminal and is used by 110,562 passengers per annum (2009-10). There was once a network of railway sidings serving the harbour but these are all gone and there is now no rail trans-shipment facilities.
