An arts and entertainment venue located in the former stable block of Howden House, the Howden Park Centre has at its heart a 296-capacity auditorium which hosts theatre, live music and dance. In addition there is a gallery, multi-function spaces, a rehearsal space, an art studio, ceramic studio and bistro. The Centre was opened in 1972 by actor Andrew Cruickshank (1907-88) and re-opened in 2009 following a refurbishment and extension by Nicoll Russell Studios which combines blends traditional stonework with white-render, glass and wood.
Now operated by West Lothian Leisure, the venue offers a continuous programme of professional arts performances, exhibitions, classes and events, including a monthly tea dance. It is also the base for Firefly Arts, a youth theatre company.
