Torrs Hill

A teardrop-shaped summit in S Dumfries and Galloway, Torrs Hill rises to 81m (265 feet) 1¼ miles (1.2 km) southeast of Castle Douglas. This is a well-defined drumlin, one of a group in this area which formed beneath an ancient ice sheet. This example is aligned NNE-SSW indicating the direction of ice flow. The remains of a small fort are located near the summit.
