International Financial Services District

A small district of Central Glasgow, lying to the south of the city's traditional financial district around Blythswood Square. It extends south to the Broomielaw on the north bank of the River Clyde, and represents a rejuvenation of that former industrial area.

Gap sites between earlier office developments have been filled with high-quality office accommodation, including the enormous Atlantic Quay development by BDP Architects, has been built at the cost of around £1 billion to attract inward investment.

Conceived in 2001 by Scottish Enterprise and Glasgow City Council, the district has grown to become a brand representing Glasgow's financial and business services community. It builds on the pedigree of Glasgow's long-established reputation in financial services, linked to universities and colleges, infrastructure and cost-competitive advantages over London. Major employers located here include Barclays, BT, Clydeport, J.P. Morgan Chase, Lloyds Banking Group and Morgan Stanley, together with Scottish Enterprise themselves.
