Happyhillock

A small peripheral district of Dundee, Happyhillock is situated 2¼ miles (3.5 km) northeast of the city centre. Taking its name from a farm-stead which was shown on First Edition Ordnance Survey maps, the modern district lies between Mid-Craigie and Whitfield, separated from the latter by the Dichty Water. Happyhillock Shopping Centre is a scrappy little plaza on Happyhillock Road, while houses to the east comprise distinctive but unattractive little 1960s white-harled, flat-roofed single and two-storey boxes with equally geometric gardens behind high brick walls.
