Centre of Scotland Stone

The Centre of Scotland Stone is located on the side of a minor road (an old military road) which passes through Glen Truim, between the Rivers Spey and Truim, 1¼ miles (2 km) south southwest of their confluence. This point represents the geographical centre of Scotland including its islands, although this is dependent on the method of calculation. The site was originally marked by the Ordnance Survey (the British national mapping agency) as a cross carved into the stone of a nearby wall but the associated plaque was stolen. Local people came together to dedicate a new monument on 5th June 2015 which comprises an interpretation board attached to a large boulder of metamorphic rock, supplied by a local firm of contractors.
