Kello Water, a mountain rivulet of Sanquhar parish, NW Dumfriesshire. Rising upon the northern slope of Blacklorg Hill at an altitude of 1980 feet, it runs 2 1/3 miles north-north-eastward along the boundary with New Cumnock in Ayrshire, and then 5¾ miles east-north-eastward along the Kirkconnel border, till, after a total descent of 1480 feet, it falls into the Nith at a point 2½ miles WNW of Sanquhar town. It is well stocked with trout.Ord. Sur., sh. 15, 1864.
