Glenkinglas, a glen in Kilmorich parish, towards the northern extremity of Cowal district, Argyllshire. It is traversed by Kinglas Water, which, rising close to the Dumbartonshire border at an altitude of 1l00 feet, runs 7 miles south-westward and westward to the E side of Loch Fyne, at Cairndow, 1½ mile SW of the head of the loch. It takes down the Glencroe road from Loch Lomond to Inverary, and by Dorothy Wordsworth is said to resemble ' the lower part of Glencroe, though it seemed to be inferior in beauty. But when we were out of the close glen, and near to Cairndow, the moon showed her clear face in the sky, revealing a spacious vale, with broad Loch Fyne and sloping cornfields, the hills not very high. ' At the foot of Glenkinglas are the mansion and pleasure-grounds of Ardkinglas.Ord. Sur., sh. 38, 37, 1871-76.
