Parish of Galashiels

Galashiels is a parish, which lies in the Scottish Borders Council Area, some 3 miles (5 km) west of Melrose and 11 miles (18 km) north of Hawick in the Scottish Borders.

It is located in the old county of Selkirkshire, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.

The parish has an area of 26.7 sq. km (10.3 sq. miles). Galashiels has 4 neighbouring parishes; namely Bowden, Caddonfoot, Melrose and Selkirk. The boundaries of this parish were modified as a consequence of the Local Government (Scotland), 1894.
