Golfer. Born in St. Andrews, the son of Tom Morris (1821 - 1908). The most remarkable golfer of his time, the youngest ever winner of the Open Championship (1868) at Prestwick. He followed this feat by winning again three times in succession.
His young wife died in childbirth and Morris never recovered from the tragedy, dying himself just months later at the age of only 24.
He is remembered by a memorial in the churchyard of St. Andrew's Cathedral.
