Annie Lennox


1954 -

Singer. Born and raised in Aberdeen, Annie Lennox is famous as a member of the pop group The Eurythmics, which she fronted with Dave Stewart. Originally in a group called The Tourists and having had one hit single, they left to form the Eurythmics and spent much of the 1980s in the pop charts with hits such as Here comes the Rain Again, Sweet Dreams (are made of this), Love is a Stranger and Who's that Girl. The 1990s brought her two solo albums, motherhood and a reunion tour for the Eurythmics.

Lennox received an honorary degree from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in 2006 and was awarded an OBE for services to charity in 2011.
