New Yetts Reservoir

(Greenock No.7 Reservoir; New Yetts No.7 Reservoir; Auxiliary Reservoir No.7)

One of a chain of small reservoirs which lie on the slopes above Greenock in Inverclyde, New Yetts Reservoir (also known as Greenock No.7 Reservoir or New Yetts No.7 Reservoir) is located 2 miles (3 km) south southwest of the town centre and a half-mile (1 km) north of Loch Thom. It is retained by an earth embankment dam on its northern side and was originally built 1825-27 by engineer Robert Thom (1774 - 1847) to provide additional water to the Greenock Cut.
