Symington

South Ayrshire

A kirkton settlement of the Kyle district of South Ayrshire, Symington lies 4 miles (7 km) northeast of Prestwick and 5 miles (8 km) to the southwest of Kilmarnock. Weavers' cottages built in the 18th Century radiate from the 12th century parish church. It is also the site of the now ruinous 15th century Craigie Castle, one time home to the Wallaces of Craigie.
