Crosshill

South Ayrshire

Located 3 miles (5 km) southeast of Maybole in South Ayrshire, Crosshill is a planned village without the strict layout associated with planned settlements. With the development of feuing in 1808, land was taken up and many single-storey cottages were built by Irish immigrants attracted by the growth of hand-loom weaving. Although a few were altered or demolished, there are still original cottages to be found on Dalhowan Street.
