Maxton and Mertoun Parish Church

A small village of the Scottish Borders, Maxton lies 2 miles (3 km) southeast of Newton St Boswells and a further 3 miles (5 km) southeast of Melrose. There was once a station here on the Kelso Branch of the North British Railway, which opened in 1850 and closed in 1968. The station house remains. The River Tweed flows to the north.
